As we continue to muddle our way through this time of stay-at-home orders, mandatory face masks, and changes in work schedules, we can't help but wonder what the next 6 months will look like. Will travel become less restricted? Will face masks become a common sight for many months to come? It's hard to answer these questions.
But perhaps the more critical question you're asking yourself is "will I have a job in the next couple months?" Or perhaps that long awaited federal assistance check has yet to find it's way to your mailbox which is causing some anxiety in your household. Wherever you find yourself, we hope you are able to find some semblance of peace in the friends and family around you (virtually or in person). If nothing else, this is a time to lean into those relationships.Â
COVID-19 has caused some pretty drastic changes at Airydale Retreat, most notably the delay of our opening from April 1st to May 8 (hopefully). We've heard of other small businesses struggling significantly during this time, especially those in the tourism industry. To be completely honest, Airydale Retreat could be hurting a LOT worse than we are. We are a developing retreat facility, meaning we don't have the overhead costs, loans, or personnel costs that other campgrounds, resorts, or retreat centers have.Â
HOWEVER, while we don't have those significant bills and expenses looming, we do have to deal with seeing our property remain empty. When you pour your heart and soul (+blood, sweat, and calluses) into a project, just to see it get flipped upside-down basically in an instant, it's not the greatest feeling in the world.Â
So why do I bring all of this up? I'm not totally sure, to be honest. Perhaps it's just to pull the curtain back a bit to see what all is going on behind the scenes. It's WAY too easy to post the perfectly filtered picture with a cheesy caption, but LIFE is not perfect (especially now).Â
If you so want to support Airydale Retreat during this time, know that you're supporting a dream that's been the works for many, many years. Your support directly helps us in the construction of additional Glampsites, along with infrastructure that lays the groundwork (quite literally [laughing emoji]) for the future bathhouse, Tiny Cabins, and other fun, unique projects.
Perhaps the easiest way to support us is through sharing about Airydale Retreat with your friends and family! We're all itching to get out of the house for a while, so why not schedule your summer getaway at Airydale?
